In PRINCE2 these 7Themes are integral to the successful application of the 7 management Processes. PRINCE2 details the importance of these Themes and how they are applied during the execution of the Processes.
| Business Case | A document which justifies a project's start, execution and closure. Refined after drafting the Project's Plan and reviewed and updated as necessary during each stage of the project. | |
| Organization | Defines project roles and responsibilities for application of each management Process and offers a model for reporting and decision making. | |
| Plans | Describes the different types of plans in a PRINCE2 project, their composition and management. | |
| Progress | Describes the performance control mechanisms and review tools available to senior management and authorities delegated to the project manager. | |
| Risk | PRINCE2’s standardised approach for risk analysis and management. Describes at which points risks must analysed, who is involved and what tools can be used for their management. | |
| Quality | Path to applying quality assurance and control in a project. Aligned to IS0's quality standards this component steps out how to plan for quality, quality responsibilities, methods and control tools. | |
| Change | Product Control (asset management of a project's products). This Theme describes rules and procedures for the management of changes. It also covers the product management functions of Planning, Identification, Control, Status Accounting and Auditing. |
